Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behavior in a given context. Following the horrific tragedies of World War II, the field of human behaviour became an increasingly popular study. The institution leadership has the main role of over sighting in all the school activities and ensure they are carried out well as expected. Ranging from use of phones during class sessions, not giving the students full attention as required to offer help in studies and also not observing time management have been among the many indiscipline issues with the staff members in the academy making it hard for the leaders to control and coordinate thus showing managerial ineffectiveness. Managerial ineffectiveness is the inability of the leading team to develop the most appropriate skills that enhance the best ways of achieving the set organizational goals (Knox Knox, 2015). Some of these skills are eff ective time management, strategic planning, critical and creative thinking to enhance development as well as appropriate decision making. Little argues (with a typical Postmodernists attitude) that requests for cosmetic surgery are often motivated by deep and genuine suffering . . . not from a desire for beauty, but from a desire to end a distressing sense of alienation from some body part or to escape incessant teasing due to the suspect norms of appearance (Little,162, 163). Men and women alike are deceived into thinking they need these surgeries due to the deep rooted norms within our society, similar to the way our largely male dominated society has deep rooted itself into our understanding of biology (Freedman). With this in mind, it is difficult to disagree with this argument. However, I do disagree with her query into the appropriateness of medicine to provide cosmetic surgery for purely vain intentions, in an attempt to conform to these norms. This is how the company sends positive signals to the shareholders and the employees simultaneously. In all the three cases the compensation objective was around long- term goals and the interests of the companys shareholders, emphasis on managing the sustainability of the business and Align executives and shareholders interests. Without up to date information the safety and well being of the service users are put at risk and you could be breaking the law. Understand the importance of working in partnership with others 3.1 Working in partnership with others can help you with tasks that would be difficult to do on your own. This could be another colleague helping to make checks on medication and booking them in. Other people you can benefit from working in a partnership could be the families of service users, doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, care workers, advocates, and other health care workers and professionals. These people could help with information that will help you to do your job better by supporting you with any problems you might have, for instance if you have a problem communicating with a service user, by talking to their family or a friend and working together can help you by making suggestions of methods of communication for the service user, or even communicating with the service user themselves to help to reach a solution. With help from others it will make it easier to reach a level of work that you aim for, this makes it possible to care for service users a s fully as possible. 3.2 You can improve partnership working by attending training sessions, and by knowing your roles and responsibilities, and everyone knowing the policies and procedures. It is also a good thing to have good communication between everyone involved. This can make working much easier and efficient. Another way could be by giving honest and unbiased information and opinions to people you work with, this will help to build a bond of trust, and would encourage them to act in the same manner towards you. By doing this it can help provide the best possible care for the service user. 3.3 Try to handle conflict situations by remaining calm, ending the conflict before it starts to escalate and gets worse. Remain respectful of others be open minded don’t be judgemental. There may be times when this is not possible and the following are required. Avoid rising challenges or suggestions you are incorrect. Ask colleagues to listen to you and respect your opinions, but you should be respectful to theirs too. If there is conflict with a colleague and you cannot resolve it then you need to speak to your manager. Always be professional and use your listening skills acknowledge what they are saying by nodding your head, repeat what the other person has said to you, this shows that you are listening to them and not ignoring them which could make matters worse, and show understanding. You should ask your manager for support and guidance if you need it. You should not let your personal feelings affect your professional manner or judgement. Every one hundred years dialects change and what is considered â€Å"politically correct†, or socially acceptable, changes. â€Å"David Bradley argues that ‘if we'd eradicated the problem of racism in our society, Huckleberry Finn would be the easiest book in the world to teach’† (Zwick, Jim. â€Å"Should Huckleberry Finn Be Banned?†). If we, as a nation, make it a point to rule out all books that could possibly offend students, then every hundred years or so our library of American Literature will be completely different. Even today, modern day authors use vulgar language, lurid sexual content, and racial slurs to get their point across. If The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is taken off of required reading lists across the country, then that could create a never-ending cycle of books being taken off of school shelves every time words and ideas become unacceptable. If this is the way that American society is turning then something must be done, and the Superintendents, Deans, and Principals of every High School around the country must take it upon themselves to do it because the students will not. The people who are trying to ban The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn are only trying to block out a part of American history that they would just as soon be forgotten, but every part of American history needs to be dealt with and accepted by everyone at a young age. Trying to shield students from any important part of history is a crime within itself. Hannibal, Missouri is a prime example of this type of crime. Every year they have a citywide celebration of Mark Twain, but they do not celebrate The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn or The Tragedy of Pudd'nhead Wilson nor do they teach it in their schools. Macbeth, Shakespeare: Internal Conflict with Macbeth Essay

With Macbeth, Shakespeare has crafted a character that falls under immense pressures from various sources. These opposing forces create internal conflict with Macbeth as he is torn between right and wrong, ambition and loyalty. Shakespeare has engineered this internal strife as a means to highlight the theme of right versus wrong in this work. As a general and great soldier, Macbeth has a developed sense of duty. Throughout the course of the play, he retains this duty, but to whom he is obligated shifts. Before the witches influence his thinking early in the play, Macbeth is duty-bound as a warrior to his king, Duncan. He fights fearlessly for Duncan and claims many victories in his name. Once the witches plant the seed of ambition in Macbeth, he begins to stray from Duncan. He becomes interested in his actions toward his own benefit, as opposed to the benefit of Duncan and his people. The final swing in Macbeth’s duties places him at the whim of his wife, Lady Macbeth. She wants him to become the powerful King, thus making her his comparably powerful Queen. Macbeth feels duty bound to please his wife, and by this her encouragement is amplified. During this transition of Macbeth’s loyalty, Macbeth’s conscience torments him relentlessly. This reveals that there must be some good deep down in Macbeth’s heart, even after he has committed so many acts of evil. Another crux of Macbeth’s torn directions is his wants for loyalty competing with his ambitious wants. Again, as a soldier, he has an embossed sense of loyalty toward Duncan. But that crown would look awfully great with Macbeth’s new kilt. After much influence from the witches and his wife, Macbeth buckles under the pressure and his ambition conquers his loyalty. With a few fell strikes of a dagger, Macbeth’s conscience is forever warped to taunt him. As should be evident, Macbeth is a character of strikingly immense internal conflict. This stress may even be the root of his hallucinations of men he has wronged. Either way, his conscience drives him mad and his downfall may be partly attributed to it.

Transmitting an idea involves the development of a thought or thoughts and then a need to divulge the information to another person is conceived. Sending the idea is the way in which the thought is transmitted from one person to the next. This could be done verbally, in writing or by portraying an action to someone else. The intended party must then confirm receipt of the message. If this does not occur then the transmittal of the message could be unsuccessful. Receipt of the message also falls on the responsibility of the sender. The sender should ensure proper transmittal of the message to the intended recipient. Comprehension of the message is the sender’s ability to send a clear and concise message to the receiver. The message needs to be understood by the receiver in order for there to be a proper flow of communication. Feedback can occur in written form or verbally from the receiver. The receiver of the message will provide the sender with an acknowledgement that the intended message was understood or needs further clarification. The process of communication is two-fold and requires responses from both a sender and a receiver in order for it to work properly. Listening and hearing are two different matters when it comes to communication. Hearing is something that happens naturally and we hear things all day. There is no concentration or thought process involved to hear something. Listening requires a thought and concentration. To listen to something is to actually process in our brain what is being heard or read. Listening requires one to hear, but hearing does not require you to listen (Dunn, 2004). Intended communications can be misconstrued when the intended receiver only hears the message instead of listening to the message. Within the criminal justice organization there are formal and informal channels of communication. Formal channels of communication consist of a clear and concise method to ensure messages are transmitted from one person to the next. This type of communication channel typically funnels from the top down, meaning from the boss to the employees. Formal communication in criminal justice includes memorandums, reports, orders and/or regulations. This helps to keep a set standard, organization within a unit and uniformity. There are also disadvantages to a formal channel of communication. The disadvantages consist of this process being time consuming and tedious. Because of the long process, a formal communication process cannot always keep up with things that change often. A formal process can also hinder ideas and thoughts from being transmitted because some people lack the skill or the drive to follow through with such a formal and long process. The informal channel of communication is â€Å"office gossip† or idle office chatter. This allows for information to travel from the employees to the boss in a funnel up theory. This will also allow for employees to discuss information amongst themselves without being in a formal setting or doing formal reports. Informal lines of communication significantly decreases the time it takes to receive an answer rather than doing up a formal report, sending it for signature and waiting for a response back. Questions and answers can be achieved within a matter of minutes via informal channels of communication. Barriers within the communication process exist when one person is concerned with personal or professional status (Wallace & Roberson, 2009). There are four different types of barriers that exist within this process and they are: emotional, physical, semantic and ineffective listening barriers. Emotional barriers are when people use their past or present experiences to form a message or decode a message. Self-esteem is at the root of emotional barriers; those with low self-esteem will not transmit many messages for ear of rejection and those with high self-esteem may try to impress their own ideas onto others. Physical barriers are any physical interruptions when trying to transmit a message. This could be equipment malfunctions, distance, or strict rules and regulations requiring certain steps be followed before transmitting any information. Semantic barriers are those words or phrases that can be interpreted differently depending on the person receiving the message. A phrase can be said to mean one thing and three different people could interpret it to mean three different things. Ineffective listening is the fourth barrier that could exist in the criminal justice system. Ineffective listening is the inability to clearly listen to a message and interpret what was being said or read. This could be due to distraction, boredom, fatigue, stress or a failure to connect with the speaker. Barriers to communication hinder the process because it stops the flow of communication from one person to the next. There are ways to overcome communication barriers within the criminal justice system. One way to overcome the barriers is to provide feedback. Feedback keeps the listener involved and lets the speaker know you are paying attention and that you understand what is being said. One can overcome emotional barriers by trying to distress before coming onto the job. Leaving emotional baggage out of the office and trying to stay focused on work at work can help to overcome the emotional barrier. Using certain tones to convey messages can defeat a semantic barrier. Tones in one’s voice can help to portray different messages in different ways. Facial and nonverbal expressions can also help to overcome semantic barriers in communication. In order to improve listening skills requires practice. In order to effectively listen to a message there has to be a need to know. Listening skills are something that everyone can always improve on and this only comes from practice. Effective communication within the criminal justice system is imperative to everyone involved. By learning the barriers and strategies to reduce the barriers we can improve on both transmitting and receiving messages. Communication is key in every facet of life and the criminal justice system depends on it.

The Chinese and Koreans also practice various customs despite the rapid changes caused by globalization that have diluted or assimilated other cultural groups. Section E Koreans culture – clothing The traditional Korean clothing is marked by the traditional hanbok that is a combination of two items. The upper part is called the jeogori, a blouse-like shirt having longer sleeves for men than females (Yoo, 2006). Women adorn skirts called chima while men wear trousers called paji. The regular people wore white, dull clothes as dyed clothes were only reserved for weddings and other ceremonies. The upper class within Korea laid great emphasis on wearing brightly colored clothes and accompanied them with jewelry and footgear as well as headdresses. During winter, the Koreans wear cotton-wadded dresses and fur coats. Although the social status surrounding clothing has waned within the ethnic group, the Koreans still deem certain clothes as superior to others (Kim, 2011). Cuisine Traditionally, rice was the staple food for the Korean community. However, with the changing lifestyles heralded by the tough economic conditions, consumption of rice has gone down significantly. Some of the prominent Korean novelists include Hwang Sun-won and Kim Tong-ri. The Koreans also engage in sculpting of bronze, stone, and rock figures such as the Sakyamuni Buddha in the rotunda of the Sokkuram Grotto that is a national landmark (Chiu Genocchio, 2011). Korean performance arts involve music and dance that evolved from 3,000 years of religious ceremonies. Korean music is dominated by two genres: Chong’ak and minsok’ak that represented soft music and energetic music respectively (Van, 2011). Frequent court dances are jeongjaemu practiced at banquets. Ilmu is practiced at rituals of Korean Confucian (Jung Choi, 2012). Chinese culture – clothing Chinese traditional clothing was generally referred to as hanfu although each social class had their own style of dressing. Rich men and women would wear coats and leather shoes made of bright silks and leather respectively. The middle and lower class Chinese adorned black cotton shoes and synthetic materials. Military officials wore the Mandarin Square over all their other clothes to signify their ranks. Much later during the Qing Dynasty and the Republican Era, the adoption of Western fashion overtook Chinese traditional wear as the dominant clothing regime (Zee, 2002). Cuisine Rice is the staple food for most of the Chinese. Toward the north and northwest of China, the weather only permits the growing of wheat as the staple crop. The rice is served alongside porridge, congee, served with shrimp, vegetables, and pickles. An extra addition would be a vegetable soup. Most of the Chinese families cannot afford meat, as it is slightly expensive. Apart from rice, the Chinese also consume large amounts of freshwater catch such as shrimp, crabs, lobster, and frogs (Wakiya, 2008). Traditional arts The government of China has a strong influence on what the Chinese people express as â€Å"art†. Most of the production of works of art is prohibited by the Communist Party. Although the state pays artists for their works, it also stifles their progress (Villard, 2010). Chinese literature consists of visual poems, for example the Book of Songs and the Lament. More Westernized writers such as Lu Xun, whose best-known work is The Rickshaw Boy (Lau, 2008). The Chinese are also known for their graphic painting that depicts the efforts of achieving a balance between yin and yang. Native Chinese music instruments include sanxuan, dongxiao, dizi, and daluo. Section F Similarities between Korean and Chinese cultures Both the Chinese and Koreans share a common belief in Buddhism and Confucianism. They share the worship of the same gods as well as some of the religious holidays. In terms of their dietary preferences, both the Chinese and Koreans consume large percentages of rice and wheat. Within the performing arts, both the Chinese and Koreans developed painting, opera, and dance as ways of expressing their talents within the society. To a larger extent, China and Korea share the same root of their language. Differences between Korean and Chinese cultures Language forms a major difference between these two communities. The Chinese are also more liberal as compared to the Koreans. The Chinese have different food preferences that are mostly oily as compared to the Korean ones that are mostly vegetables. Korea has also maintained a firm grip on the social classes and stratification as compared to China that has opportunities for upward mobility based on merit. Application in the classroom The information obtained from the study of the Chinese and Korean cultures is valuable in understanding different cultures and their features. Students can decipher different traditions, their origins, and their significance to the Chinese and Koreans. The information on these two cultures can also be studied with an aim of adopting positive traditional practices that are beneficial within those cultures, for example adopting the etiquette mannerisms or the industrious nature of the Koreans by a section of American students would be beneficial to the students. Materials and methods used in the essay In the research, the emphasis was placed on different cultural aspects of both Chinese and Korean populations. The most important sources in the paper were Contemporary art in Asia by Chio that provided information on nearly all the cultural elements in Asia as a continent. The information from the sources was sorted basing on their relevance and importance. The sharp contrasts and similarities were elaborated later in the paper.
